      • What is NAD+ and why is it important?

NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme found in every living cell, where it helps turn food into cellular energy and supports hundreds of metabolic reactions. Your body makes NAD+ from precursors in your diet, but levels fall as you age.

That decline is why NAD+ has become one of the most studied molecules in aging research, and why NAD+ supplements built around precursors like NR and NMN draw so much interest.

      • What is nicotinamide riboside?

Nicotinamide riboside (NR) is a form of Vitamin B3 and a precursor to nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+), a coenzyme vital to cellular health.

NR is found in small amounts in foods like dairy products and is one of several variations of Vitamin B3.

NR supplementation is clinically proven to increase NAD+ levels and provide benefits for promoting cellular energy and healthy aging.

      • What is pterostilbene?

Pterostilbene is a powerful antioxidant found in certain berries and nuts that is similar to resveratrol but more potent.

Pterostilbene has a slightly different structure that makes it more bioavailable than resveratrol.

Pterostilbene is a potent activator of SIRT1, an NAD(+)-dependent enzyme that plays a critical role in cellular health and DNA maintenance.

        Basis Journey

        Day 30
        Day 60
        Day 180
        Day 365

        Hour 4

You just took Basis—nothing could be happening yet, right? Actually, the nicotinamide riboside is already making big moves. It enters your cells via equilibrative nucleoside transporters, membrane proteins that shuttle molecules across.

        Day 01

NAD+ levels are already on the rise at the cellular level. You can expect support for increased cellular energy, improved mitochondrial function, housekeeping for your proteome and genome, and cellular protection from everyday stressors (for example, oxidative stress). Not bad for a day's work.

        Day 14

NAD+ levels continue to rise in your cells and throughout your body. Keep doing what you're doing while Basis works in the background to sustain your cellular health.

        Day 30

Now results are really adding up. If you had all the gear for NAD+ analysis from whole-blood lysate, you could see for yourself. Your cellular NAD+ levels are now 40% higher than they were on day one, and that's where they'll stay if you keep taking Basis. Where is all this NAD+ going? Studies suggest that NR supplementation increases NAD+ and affects NAD+-related metabolites in multiple tissues at 30 days—including your muscle and brain.

        Day 60

You've logged 30 days of elevated and sustained NAD+ levels in your cells and tissues. That's a big deal because 330 billion cells turn over each day. Colon epithelial cells, for example, turn over in 3-5 days while the epidermis takes roughly 39 days to regenerate. NAD+ can help with supporting these processes and tissue health.

        Day 180

A lot happens in six months. What's changed in your life? With Basis, it's all starting to add up—to systemic health benefits. Basis is supporting multiple tissues and systems, in a sustained manner. For example, one study showed that six months of increased NAD+ levels reduced transepidermal water loss—a measure of overall skin health and barrier function.

        Day 365

Congratulations on your first year. NAD+ declines by as much as 50% every 20 years, according to research. But human studies are beginning to show an association between NAD+ abundance and healthy aging status. Keep taking Basis to counteract the age-related decline of NAD+ and to build on a year's worth of benefits. Just like with exercise, sleep, and diet—consistency is key.

        Our Team

The Elysium team is made up of individuals who are passionate about creating a fundamentally new approach to healthcare, one that focuses not exclusively on disease but on health.

We tackle challenges with creativity, integrity, and a willingness to collaborate. We believe that aging is not only the greatest risk factor for all major chronic conditions, but that aging research represents the most significant opportunity to improve human health today. It is our responsibility to share the benefits of aging research with as many people as possible, to effect real and meaningful change. This includes our colleagues, our families, and our friends—who were the original inspiration for Elysium.
